As Montpellier Legal continues to grow, we continue to evolve their workplaces to support them. Having collaborated on several previous office fit outs, this latest project in Stow-on-the-Wold marks the next chapter. Although a little smaller than their flagship Cheltenham office, it’s designed to deliver just as much impact. Here’s how we supported the business as they continue to grow..
The Brief
Our work with Montpellier Legal spans multiple locations and multiple stages of their growth. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that there’s a clear thread running through every space we create together. Each workplace builds on an established look, feel and way of working, ensuring that experience stays consistent and connected wherever their team is based.
The new workplace in Stow-on-the-Wold brought in a different kind of challenge. The footprint is significantly smaller than previous projects, but the expectations around performance and identity still stand. The brief centred around translating the successes of their larger offices into a smaller environment to ensure the team has the ideal foundations to work efficiently, collaborate and continue to grow in this new location.
The Solution
The close collaboration with the team over multiple projects has built a strong, trusted relationship – one that works both ways. That shared understanding means we can move quickly from brief to solution, with a clear view of where the business is heading and what the space needs to support them to get there.
Partners in Growth
Working across multiple projects means the design language is already established. That allows us to be more intentional with how each space develops, evolving materials, finishes and detailing so every workplace feels consistent.
In this space, that intent shows through the continued use of high quality materials and colours, from the fabrics of chairs to flooring patterns. They all work together to maintain that professional experience across the wider portfolio of offices. These familiar elements create continuity, creating a sense of connection between each location as the business grows. In short, no matter which office you’re in, you know it’s Montpellier Legal.
Layered into this, the introduction of a terracotta colour brings a subtle shift, adding warmth and vibrancy without disrupting what’s already been established. It evolves the palette, rather than replacing it, sitting naturally in the design alongside the established brand language.
The result is a space that doesn’t sit separately from the wider workplaces, but feels like a natural next step in their growth.
Maximising Space
As a small office, a focus was placed on how the space could be designed around the functions the team needed without becoming overcrowded.
We used subtle spatial cues and wayfinding to organise the layout intuitively, so teams can transition between tasks without interruption or confusion. Changes in the flooring design were used to naturally zone the room – an approach that also aligns with their other offices. It separates desking, circulation and shared areas without introducing physical barriers that would make the space feel restricted.
The building itself also influenced key decisions. Low ceilings meant traditional ceiling lighting wasn’t viable, so the lighting strategy was rethought entirely. Wall-mounted fittings were introduced instead, providing the right level of illumination to support sustained focus.
The result is a professional environment that carries the Montpellier Legal signature style and provides the same level of support to the team within a smaller footprint.
