Signature Spaces: Montpellier Legal’s Stroud Fit Out

Montpellier Legal’s Stroud office fit out is a natural extension of their Cheltenham flagship, offering the same signature experience – professionalism, contemporary design and adaptability.

The Brief

Following our office fit out for Montpellier Legal in the Cheltenham Brewery Quarter, things were thriving. Their team was expanding, and with that, so was their need for additional space.

Having moved to an additional property in the Five Valleys Shopping Centre at the heart of Stroud, they turned to our experts to complete an office fit out that matched the signature design, feel and quality finish of their flagship office – but on a more compact scale.

The Spaces That Matter

We were briefed with creating the same winning formula across key areas: the meeting rooms, the focus zones, the reception that stops clients in their tracks and the client lounge that feels like an experience in itself. They needed to be flexible, functional and still pack that wow factor their Cheltenham office is known and loved for.

The team also needed a breakout space; somewhere to disconnect and recharge, continuing the theme of a high end, contemporary office design.

Smaller Scale, Same Impact

The Stroud office, though impressive, is smaller than their Cheltenham workplace. Every element had to pull its weight, maintaining the essentials of what made the original Montpellier Legal space so special, but working smaller to fit a more refined footprint.

Having worked with Montpellier Legal before, we felt a strong foundation of trust. They knew we understood their brand, their vision and what their team needed from their workplace.

But that didn’t mean we cut corners. We carried out our full, collaborative process; a workplace consultation, design and planning meetings and on-site progress updates throughout. Every detail of the Stroud office fit out was considered.

Making an Entrance. Twice.

With two public entrances to navigate, first impressions mattered twice as much. Both had to have a strong visual impact on entry on both floors, setting the tone for clients and employees the moment they walked in.

On the ground floor, we installed a bespoke reception with integrated drinks coolers to welcome clients in style. Upstairs, the first-floor entrance featured a striking curved modular sofa, softened with lush planting features. No matter the entry point, you’re met with an inviting yet professional arrival that replicates the Montpellier Legal experience.

Creative Zoning

The open-plan space needed careful choreography. The reception, staff work area and the client lounge all needed a place within a single footprint without blending into one another. Our solution was harp zoning products – something the eagle-eyed of you will also spot used in their Cheltenham office.

Acoustics were an important part of zoning these spaces to minimise noise transfer between these areas. We installed suspended planting above the client lounge and acoustic wall panels within the focus area to absorb noise and keep the environment balanced.

Quiet When It’s Needed

To ensure staff had a place to step away from private calls or video meetings, we integrated a single-user phone booth on the first floor. It’s a simple but essential addition, based on the patterns and preferences of the Montpellier Legal team – minimising disruptions to other colleagues at their desks, whilst also maintaining the flow of the open plan office.

Signature Details

Of course, we kept a few signature details to tie all the Montpellier Legal offices together.

We carried through the same feature flooring by Shaw Contract, particularly throughout the meeting rooms, to maintain continuity with their original HQ. It’s these finer details that reinforce the experience of the Montpellier Legal brand, ensuring their Stroud office feels every bit as refined, sophisticated and modern as their flagship workplace.
