Rapid growth is a great problem to have… until your office starts feeling like a bottleneck. Having worked with Implantcast UK on a successful refurbishment a few years earlier, their existing space had been optimised to support the team. But, with continued expansion, it was clear they now needed more room to work, collaborate and grow. Here’s how we ensured connectivity across their larger workplace, all while supporting the team’s day-to-day.
The Brief
Implantcast UK’s growth had reached a point where their current office was starting to feel stretched. Rather than forcing the team into a series of compromises, an opportunity to expand across the entire ground floor of their building presented itself.
The question for the business – and one familiar to many growing companies – was how to make the new space connect with the existing office. We were brought back in to explore the opportunities, produce a design feasibility and achieve this connectivity in a way that felt natural, supported workflow and encouraged collaboration across the team.
The Solution
Collaborating with Implantcast UK, we explored their current pressures and future trajectory, using this insight to shape a layout that connects teams, supports operations and can scale with the business. We delivered this project in phases, allowing parts of the team to remain operational on site throughout. Over a six-week programme, we balanced construction and business continuity so that Implantcast UK could remain working while their workplace transformed around them.
Reconnecting the Workplace
The original office space was transformed into a new warehouse and dispatch area, freeing up the new floorplate for people-focused spaces. To prevent the teams from becoming siloed, we positioned the kitchen, breakout area and games room between the two zones, acting as a natural bridge between operational and office functions.
Within these social spaces, we used design techniques like layout, acoustics and furniture deliberately encourage natural interaction, collaboration and those everyday moments that build culture.
Space for Sales
A priority was bringing the UK sales team together in one place – something the previous square footage simply couldn’t support. We created a large boardroom and training room, capable of hosting the entire team. It’s a solution to unlock in-person strategy sessions, training days and all-hands meetings.
Around this, we designed informal touchdown areas for laptop-based work, giving the sales team a flexible base when they’re in the office without pulling them away from their colleagues. Large acoustic pods were also dropped into the design to support focused meetings and high quality video calls, ensuring hybrid collaboration worked just as well as face-to-face.
From collaborative zones to connected social spaces, Implantcast UK’s office expansion gave them room to grow, tools to work efficiently and flexibility to adapt as their team continues to grow.
