When you work with our design and build team for your office fit out, you’re partnering with some of the best talent in Gloucestershire. Our approach is deeply humancentric; we collaborate with our clients to create a workplace that fully represents your business, supports your team and delivers results.

We like to get under the skin of your business to understand your needs and aspirations. In return, we believe it’s only fair that you get to know us.

First under the spotlight is Jess, our Lead Designer. With an impeccable eye for detail and a profound understanding of commercial environments, Jess is instrumental in designing stunning spaces that don’t just look good, but also support your business.

Jess has been the creative behind several of our standout projects, including the design and build of Montpellier Legal’s flagship office in Cheltenham Brewery Quarter, the fresh space for Code Red and, more recently, our very own warehouse launch in Longhope.

We know you’re as eager as we are to pick her brain, so let’s get started.

What does a typical day at Gravity look like as an interior designer?

Aside from checking my emails in the morning, every day is different – which keeps it interesting. My day could be anything, from taking a client brief on site to surveying a building to drawing and designing in the office, even site visits to check the refurbishment progress.

We have weekly team meetings which is a great way to understand what everybody is working on, keep an eye on sales figures and outline movements for the week. These types of meetings allow you to step out of your day-to-day tasks to look at the bigger picture. It’s also key to us collaborating and exchanging ideas, particularly within such a creative team.

Occasionally, suppliers will visit us at our HQ on the farm, or we will head over to their showroom for updates and to view any new products. This is essential for us to be able to put forward and specify products to our clients confidently.

The day-to-day design work is a combination of CAD drawings, 3D modelling, collating samples to present to our clients and producing technical drawings for a construction pack, amongst many other things.

What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on at Gravity so far and why?

It’s a difficult one, but I’d have to say OV Group in Tenbury Wells. The client was a pleasure to work with and trusted us with creative freedom to produce an interior scheme that suited the requirements of their business, team and pulled in elements of their fun company branding.

Office Fit Out Tenbury Wells

What office interior scheme are you loving at the moment?

One that heavily focuses on wellbeing. I love exploring zoning for controlled noise levels, natural and controlled lighting and airflow, a neutral colour palette, adequate space for comfort – space is a luxury and doesn’t always need to be filled!

Do you have any tips for clients coming to you for office ideas?

Come to us with all the ideas you may have. We love this, but also want you to stay open-minded, particularly at the start of your office design and planning stage. We recommend having internal discussions beforehand so that everyone is on the same page as to the requirements and outcomes you want from your office fit out.

One of the most important things you can do is outline a budget. This is key for us to design without any delays.

Do you have any tips for aspiring interior designers?

Get in touch with local firms to see if you can take part in any work experience. The more commercial and field experience you have the easier you will pick things up and progress.

What is your favourite piece of furniture that you own?

My bed!
