Does your workplace feel like it has more potential? The right design can unlock new opportunities to improve how your team works, collaborates and experiences the office environment.

The Brief

The brief centred on overcoming a lack of space across the workplace to create an environment that better supported the team. The existing office didn’t quite provide the collaborative atmosphere the business needed, while the canteen required rethinking to provide employees with a more comfortable and functional space to take breaks. With the office located alongside a factory floor, it was equally important to create a welcoming welfare area where the team could step away, relax and recharge.

The Solution

Working closely with the team, we took the project from concept to completion, creating a workplace that combines creativity and practicality.

Meeting Space

A Creative Office Space

To modernise the office space, we replaced the existing dial desks with a bench system that opened up the space to encourage easier collaboration between teams. A black suspended ceiling system introduced a more contemporary feel, moving away from the “traditional” office concept. Softer elements, including planting, acoustic panelling and soft–coloured board finishes, were then layered throughout to balance the darker features. Thoughtful flooring design helped to zone the space, improving wayfinding by helping to create a flow throughout the office space.

Meetings That Impress

As a client-facing environment, the meeting room was refreshed to create a professional and welcoming experience. The design was considered to improve the performance of the room, from the D-end table that helps with better viewing of the screen, through to creative panelling and planting to support acoustics.

A glazed partition with a reeded banding maintains a sense of openness with a level of privacy, while storage becomes a design feature in its own right. Drawing on the wider workplace, colours were pulled through from the main office in the flooring and board finishes for a cohesive design.

Bringing Teams Together

Shared by both the office team and shop floor staff, the reception and breakout areas were designed to be functional through wipe-clean surfaces and hard-wearing furniture. A mix of seating styles, including banquette, poseur height and dining height options, helps to maximise the number of employees who can use the space at one time. The same colour palette and design language were carried through from the wider workplace.

The reception area reinforces the company identity through branded signage, open storage for awards and product showcases. It leads into a locker corridor that features a unique acoustic ceiling feature to further encourage wayfinding.

Breakout Area

The finished workplace reflects a balance of creativity and practicality, creating an environment that works as well as it looks.
