The Brief
Our recent project was incredibly exciting as it involved the refurbishment of our own headquarters.
As we’re heavily focused on team-based work, it was important to create an office space for our employees to reconnect, communicate and collaborate – something that wasn’t easy to achieve beforehand as we were split across two separate offices. As part of this project, we also needed to accommodate the growth of our team and create a space where other members of Workplace Interiors Co could work.
The plan was for this space to be client-facing as well as a working office; an area we could present to our clients face-to-face or through video calls.
The Solution
The project involved intricate space plans and configuration of a desk layout around the existing columns that run through the office. This included a minimum of 11 desks, a new sample library and storage for personal belongings, as well as an inspiring collaborative area.
As this was our own office space, we had a clear idea of what we needed to include in the layout and an understanding of how our teams work best; a space where we could break out to collaborate, alongside individual desk spaces for focused work.
We placed a large focus on the collaborative/presentation area, made up of a poseur table, stools and suspended planting. For us, this area is incredibly valuable and will experience regular use as a lot of our team meetings are informal and we no longer need to book unnecessary meeting rooms.
The overall office design was kept universal with little branding. The intention behind this was to keep it spacious and inviting, using a neutral base with a pop of colour for a bit of fun.
When it came to the office flooring, our fit out team had to think on a practical level. Our headquarters is based on a farm, so we needed a solution that was forgiving to general dirt and wear. We used a lightly patterned LVT tile from Interface to bring interest to a fairly neutral design, then fitted a confetti-style (Step Aside Jet) carpet tile in the collaborative zone. This office flooring solution also helped with the acoustic properties of the space.
Now our office fit out is complete, our teams are incredibly excited to move into a space. With the help of data-driven office space planning, we can appreciate a more efficient way of working that not only benefits our team, but our clients too.
