The Brief
In our recent project, our client, Tomorrow’s Guides, had acquired new premises in Hungerford, Berkshire. The website publisher’s new office was already suitable in terms of the space required to efficiently accommodate the team, however help was needed to deliver a full internal refit.
Through a detailed project consultation, we noted that the client’s workforce were largely office based. The office was therefore a powerful tool for their business, and the challenge lay in designing the perfect space where teams could work easily together, as well as collaborate with colleagues from different areas of the company.
The office refit involved the design and build of formal meeting rooms and less formal touchdown points, with provision for agile work areas. For Tomorrow’s Guides, it was important to have dedicated spaces where staff could socialise and relax, ultimately reducing work burnout. To help this, they also wanted to introduce natural elements into the overall office design.
The Solution
From concept to completion, our design team worked alongside the client to ensure we were consistently meeting the requirements of their workforce. We take a collaborative approach with every fit out project as we believe this is pivotal to a successful project delivery.
After an initial workplace assessment, we sketched out detailed space plans and 3D office designs to turn the client’s office vision into a reality. These office plans help us to identify any areas that need amending before anything has been set in stone – saving businesses any costly changes later on! Once these were signed off, our project team were then able to create an installation timeline that was most convenient to the client, ensuring they comfortably hit their required office occupation date.
The overall office decoration scheme was kept neutral. This enhanced the accents of colour which we added through simple but varied interior elements, such as flooring designs, vibrant fabrics and splashes of greenery through preserved planting methods.
Throughout the workplace, we specified and installed multiple acoustic interior solutions.
Suspended from the ceiling were acoustic screens. The material assists with sound absorption, all while elevating the office design with geometric shapes and elements of company branding.
Our fitters fixed acoustic desk screens and three dimensional ceiling baffles above hot-desking areas to form conversation hubs. These added interior details help to improve speech clarity and therefore communication between colleagues – this area is a perfect focus space for staff to get away and concentrate on work.
Acoustic interior solutions come in all different kinds of shapes and sizes. Our preserved moss panels, for example, are a great solution to add biophilic design to your workplace (and all the benefits that come with this). What most people don’t know is the moss also absorbs unwelcome office sounds, harmonising the ideal work environment.
Finally, high backed, acoustic privacy booths created the perfect area where staff could break away for one-to-one conversations with improved privacy.
With our help, Tomorrow’s Guides were able to relocate offices and return staff to the workplace on their desired move-in date. Prior to going live on site, our project management team produced a detailed programme of works to ensure a smooth delivery from our own in-house labour force and sub contract teams, saving our client the all-too-common pains of delays and organising multiple contractors.
